Table of contents:
As I have already mentioned in one of my previous entries, there are some incredible sunset spots in Nice and around. One of them happens to be on my route from work to home if I choose to take the scenic route.
For me the best sunsets can be observed from December to March – there is something about the visibility and the colors that makes them somewhat clearer in the winter.
Anyways, here are my best sunset spots around Nice that will make your heart beat faster !
Most of them are great too when riding a motorcycle at the same time (if you can keep your eyes on the road !)
Haute corniche between La Turbie and Eze

A splendid view where you can observe the half island Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat and the sun setting on far away mountains.
Saint Laurent Du Var Beach
This place is something else. When you are tired of the usual promenade in Nice, with lots of people – there is this calmer place just next to Nice, behind the airport.
There is a quite big shopping mall called Cap 3000 where you can find pretty much everything (beware it’s not cheap).
You will find a lot of motorcycle free parking spaces and if you come by car, you can park in the city mall – the first 3 hours are free.

Mont Chauve
Which literally translates to “Bald Mountain”. It’s a also a Nice spot for a picnic (pun intended). You can get to the top of the mountain only by a motorcycle or a car, there is a small parking on the top. You will have to go on foot for the last 500 meters (550 yards) but oh boy is it worth it !
There is a 180 degrees panorama from the top where you can see the whole city of Nice, on your left the highway going through the hills to Monaco.

Bonus spot
There is a small place at the very end of the city of La Turbie called “la tête du chien” which translates to “The dog’s head”.
It’s a cool spot to see an almost 360 degrees panoramic view of the French coast. Just please be carefull as there aren’t any barriers and a fall from this height would be probably deadly.
From this same spot, on the left side you can see Monaco from above all the way to Italy and probably further. On the right side you can observe Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat, Nice airport, Antibes and maybe even further on a good day. If you are lucky, you might see Corsica if you look straight at the see – it is only 200 kilometers (125 miles) away !
